Overview of Gas Detection Systems
Gas detection systems can be seen in a variety of industries such as Wastewater Treatment, Oil and Gas, Semiconductor Manufacturing, Chemical and more. These systems are critical in the protection of safety against combustible, flammable, and toxic gases. Gas detectors are fed back to a control panel where the information can be retrieved and monitored at a central location. Components within the control panel are sensitive devices and as such can be damaged during surge events.

Today's increased reliance on very sensitive electronics makes surge protection an important topic for Gas Detection Systems. The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety study found that $26 billion dollars was lost due to non-lightning power surges. In addition, there are about 25 million lightning strikes in the US each year that cause between $650M to $1B in losses according to the Insurance Information Institute, State Farm©.
