THE 'SURGE PROTECTOR' SOLUTION

In order to limit surges generated by lightning or switching surge to an acceptable level for critical equipment and installations, the most effective solution is installing a protection device against these surges. Called an « SPD » (Surge Protective Device), they are deployed directly into the AC power, DC power, wireless or wired communication networks.

CITEL offers a complete range of surge protectors adapted to all types of networks and configurations.

AC Surge Protectors

CITEL DS Series is an AC power surge protection device designed to meet all the surge protection needs for any low voltage installation. These DIN rail mounted surge protectors are easy to install in any standardized distribution pane, control panel or piece of equipment. They are equipped with a thermal disconnection device and provide real-time fault indicators which allow for complete operational safety. These surge protectors are available with several types of protection circuits that comply with even the most demanding installations and standards compliance requirements. CITEL offers a line of surge protectors for the single, split and three phase AC networks connected to sensitive equipment. These product families are available in various formats including panel mount enclosures, din rail modules or hard-wired devices.

Photovoltaic Surge Protectors

null

The photovoltaic grid-connected low voltage power lines may be subject to overvoltages on different networks: AC, DC or communication lines. Depending on the type of networks, the presence of a lightning rod or the existence of primary surge protectors, CITEL offers a complete range of solutions to protect all inputs into the system including AC power, DC power, and data signal or communication lines.

LED systems Surge Protectors

LED street lighting is now widely popular, nevertheless this attractive technology has an important drawback: its sensitivity to transient voltages originating from lightning or power switching events on the AC network. CITEL offers a full range of surge protectors designed to be installed at different locations on the lighting network such as the luminaire, at the base of the pole and in the lighting control cabinet. Many versions are available for the many different configurations found in the field today: which include surge protection devices for the both isolation classes (Class 1 and Class 2), connection types (wire or screw terminal) as well DIN rail mount versions.

Telecom and Data Line Surge Protectors

These subassemblies can be easily used by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), operator or the end user. They are designed to protect PBX’s (Private Branch Exchange), network switches, distribution patch panels in the phone system or the Local Area Network (LAN). In 1982, the widespread use of mobile phones offered society its first important opportunity of diversification. However, the growing demand for this mobility, linked to the implementation of digital telecommunication networks via wireless cell sites, also made them more fragile and vulnerable to transient surges. This evolution in the field communication technologies also required the design of very effective protection systems adapted for the newer networks of today and in the future.

Coaxial Surge Protectors

null

To further complete this new range of surge protection, CITEL offers a wide array of coaxial surge protectors for wireless radio and antenna applications. With the different types of mobile equipment available (GSM, PCN, UMTS, BLR...), coaxial protectors are becoming more important and continue to evolve towards new technologies such as Quarter wave stubs, filtered protectors as well as specialized high-frequency gas discharge tubes.
