The DPVN-Series
The Next Level in surge protection

With the release of the DPVN family of Surge Protective Devices (SPD), CITEL introduces a new generation of protection devices for photovoltaic, energy storage and electric vehicle charging applications.

The DPVN Series is the first range of SPD to be designed around Citel's new, game-changing CTC-Technology. These DC PV and DC power surge protectors offer robust surge handling capability while reducing the products overall footprint. This is the key to the innovation: Maintaining the same rugged surge protection while reducing the size and increasing the overall safety of the SPD.

This is all due to the highly efficient central disconnection system of the patented CTC-Technology that is optimized by concentrating the heat across multiple varistors rather than dividing it. This all makes for a faster and more controlled separation from the power system. The DPVN-SPDs are tested to the most recent UL 1449 5th Edition for DC PV and DC Surge Protectors as well as IEC 61643-31 surge protective devices for photovoltaic applications.

Patented CTC-Technology

The DPVN Series is specifically designed to protect against the damaging effects of lightning and switching surges to a solar power plant, energy storage system or electric vehicle charging network. The entire DPVN series is available with the maximum UL 1449 Nominal Discharge Rating (In) of 20kA 8/20us as well as single impulse rated to Imax 50kA 8/20us. In addition, some of the DPVN Series have been tested with the IEC 61643-32 direct lightning impulse waveform up to 6.25kA 10/350us per pole and Itotal to 12.5kA 10/350us. This provides a complete profile of the surge protectors performance for both conducted and induced transient surge events.

DPVN Series

The DPVN Series can be installed in all applications, i.e. for rooftop systems of any size -
from single-family home or dwelling unit, apartment buildings, hospitals, commercial offices, industrial factories as well as ground-mounted utility-scale power systems or microgrids.

The DPVN Series are UL 1449 Type 1/ 2 Listed SPD's (Pending) and are available for all DC PV or DC power systems up to 1500Vdc.
They are available in three models with three different protection circuits depending on your systems exposure to lightning events, temporary over voltages (TOVs) or leakage current requirements.
