OVERVIEW
Today's increased reliance on very sensitive electronics makes surge protection an important topic for Shale Oil & Gas Production Systems. Shale extraction equipment necessary for upstream operations such as production are constantly exposed to environmental conditions. During peak storm seasons, equipment is subjected to increased lightning events. Frequent switching events within the systems during normal operation combined with lightning events from inclement weather can cause electrical surges that can negatively impact the equipment runtime.
